Beans Gone Bad: Kidney Infection Symptoms and Treatment
The kidneys are integral in maintaining homeostasis or the corporal balance of the body. This pair of bean-shaped organs serve their regulatory function by monitoring and controlling the electrolyte levels present in the bloodstream, keeping track and maintaining the acid-base balance, retaining the blood pressure to normal, optimal levels, and as is most commonly known, acting as a sieve by which blood will be filtered and removed of toxic substances. The substances which are sifted from the blood will be forwarded to the urinary bladder, which is consequently responsible for the excretion of urea and ammonium via urine. This entire group of organs make up the excretory system.
However, if said system is to malfunction, doctors zero in on the kidney for primary check-ups. The occurrence and frequency of symptoms due to kidney infection may be caused by ailments of varying degrees of gravity – heat exhaustion, shock, and hemorrhage among others can cause acute conditions, while hypertension, urinary stones and tumors may bring about chronic conditions.
At any rate, any one should undergo a check up when abnormalities are noticed in every day bodily functions. Common kidney infection symptoms cause changes in urination patterns (patients complain that they are forced to get up at weird night hours just to urinate, their urine contains blood, that they feel unfamiliar pain or pressure, or find urinating difficult), they retain a lot of water, they get tired a lot faster than usual, and in the more serious cases, ammonia breath (an accumulation of a harmful substance called uremia that induces a dislike for meat), vomiting and nausea, and shortness and sharp intakes of breath. Some kidney patients even complain of being easily distracted, chills and a feeling of cold, pain in the leg or flank area, and itchiness, and rash breakouts. There are also ailments like urinary tract infection that indicate a possible kidney condition.
Urinalysis is the most common and convenient means to detect any possible complication. The medical technician collects a urine sample (midstream), and analyzes it for any alarm signals, as normal urine is sterile. If there are any further findings, tests like pelvis and abdomen scans are taken.
Not all kidney ailments and infections require the drastic operations of dialysis. True that kidney complaints are often in one way or another connected to harmful habits acquired and in the adopted lifestyle (holding urine in as long as one could, not drinking enough glasses of water). The doctors will recommend oral medications and antibiotics as kidney infection treatments. As for the nausea and fever, if the antibiotics work, the mentioned symptoms will fade altogether. And finally, the patients have to be re-hydrated, and advised to take a lot of water – to wash away any more harmful chemicals and reinforce the resumption of kidney functioning. Exercise will also do the patient a lot of good (sweating), as well as avoidance of fatty food and meals rich in salt. Restriction of the following nutrients – protein, potassium, and phosphorus – should be observed. Finally, smoking should be stopped, to facilitate the continuous recovery of the kidneys.Beans Gone Bad: Kidney Infection Symptoms and Treatment ,
