Common Food Allergies
The biggest problem that all of us will face in our lives will not be the absence of money, or the absence of food, or the absence of support system. The biggest problem that all people would face in their lives is the difficulty in breathing.
All of the above problems, except the breathing one, can be remedied with the help of someone but no one could ever help you if you have a problem with breathing. If you are choking for some reason, then you are on your own. This is the biggest problem that affects people with allergies. There are some allergic reactions that are so severe that it will cause the narrowing of the airway of the body.
This is a big problem to us because the body only has one way of receiving air. To know more about allergies in detail, we must first discuss about how allergies work. The body is an amazing heavy duty machine. Its surveillance system is second to none when you compare it to the latest in security technology. When a bacteria enters the body, the proteins on its surface will be scanned by the immune system. If ever that protein is considered an intruder, then the body would do all of what it takes to clear it and that includes the calling of the heavily armored antibodies.
This type of reaction occurs in the same way to people with allergies except instead of the bacteria entering the system, it is the allergens who try to enter. Allergens do not cause an immune response to normal people but instead they only affect the people who have hyperactive immune systems such as that of people with allergies. Allergens come from a lot of sources and they are found most especially in food. Foods which have a high protein content have the highest risk of creating an immune response.
The most common foods which can cause allergies are shrimps, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, yeast, milk, tofu, meats and many more. In order to know which ones you are allergic to and which ones you are susceptible to having allergies, it is good to research about the amount of protein there are in common foods. These foods account for 80% of all the allergies worldwide.
The most common symptoms of allergies to food would only affect the skin such as hives, excessive itchiness, reddening of skin, and inflammation of the skin especially in the face area. In the beginning of this article, I mentioned about difficulty breathing. This can very well happen to people if the body will have uncontrollable inflammation. If ever you experienced having skin inflammation during your allergic episodes, it is advised that you see a doctor to be prescribed with the right medications. Your doctor would also advice you to bring a syringe of epinephrine whenever you go out to eat.
Having food allergies might not be the best condition you can have in the world but at least something will help you if ever you have difficulty breathing. Problem solved!
