Dental hygiene is very essential for healthy teeth. The mouth and teeth are prone to different diseases which can cause the deterioration of teeth. When a tooth and gums are affected you will be able to identify them with symptoms like pus around the teeth, bleeding gums, bad breath, loosening of tooth and bad taste in the mouth. They have to be treated along with intensive care and cleaning. Different people suffer from different kinds of dental problems. The oral hygiene measures to be followed will also be different from person to person. Children need some extra care because they are in the growing phase.

Oral health is affected in many ways especially, due to the lifestyle changes and habits. You need to consume a well balanced diet and avoid harmful things like alcohol and tobacco. Starchy and sugary foods will contribute to the formation of plaque in your mouth. Plaque is nothing but a sticky layer of bacteria which accumulates on your teeth especially in places where your brush cannot reach. It irritates the gums and causes redness leading to bleeding and gum disease. So it is very important to remove the plaque and prevent gum disease. The best way is to brush and clean every day.

Brush twice everyday because this will help you to remove the plaque from the surface of the teeth. Use a soft bristled brush for brushing. Cleaning between one tooth and another with floss is also necessary to prevent plaque in places where your toothbrush cannot reach. After brushing you should also use a mouth rinse which can increase the hygiene in your mouth. Use antibacterial rinses which can help to reduce the plaque, bacteria and prevent gum disease. Rinses which contain fluoride are also useful to prevent tooth decay. However, children under 6 years should not use the fluoride rinses because they may swallow them. The best way to maintain good oral health is to consult your dentist regularly and follow his advice.
