Are you tired of always putting yourself into a situation wherein you lose almost all your confidence and feel profound unhappiness due to excessive sweating? Stop concealing behind that physical disorder, free yourself from it. There are several ways to stop sweating. Do not let this suffering ruin your daily living. In medical terms, excessive sweating is called Hyperhidrosis. Its tremendous effects on the lives of many people have urged the experts to cite its causes and discover effective treatments for it.
What factors cause excessive sweating? It is well for you to know that it varies from person to person. The cause of one person’s Hyperhidrosis may not be similar to that of the other due to certain reasons. Some experience it in times when they are stressed or under work pressure. This disorder occurs during night time for others. You may think that with the aid of electric fans or sleeping without blankets can help a lot. In fact, they still wake up covered in sweat. Exposure to the heat of the Sun can also cause too much perspiration to some people. This disorder is common to perfectly healthy people who are stressfully threatened by the fact that there is little they can do to solve this problem.
What makes sweating an excessive one? There is no particular measurement as to how much is too much as long as it starts from the normal or average level and goes up to the point in which it causes so much anxiety. It begins during childhood or adolescence and can even be suffered from till adulthood if not treated well. The body parts that are commonly affected by it are armpits, palms of hands and soles of feet. Sweating from the armpits is called axillary hyperhidrosis. On the other hand, palmoplantar hyperhidrosis is the sweating from soles and palms. Even though it is not death- defying, Hyperhidrosis causes distress and poor quality of life. Social interactions are avoided by those who suffer from it which is not good at all. What is important is that they should not stay desperate and effortless about this suffering since there are several solutions to it.
Using antiperspirants can effectively reduce sweating. The availability of these products makes it the simplest way for treatment. You can combat your sweating demons by procuring powerful antiperspirants. However, you cannot guarantee yourself of a 100% effectiveness of it since there is a possibility that it will not work best for you. There are more expensive antiperspirants that contain aluminum chloride hexahydrate which are proven by many people to be effective. Some do not need antiperspirants that much since their excessive sweating is experienced in some other parts and not in armpits. They would rather take some oral medications as another resort to reduce sweating in palms, soles, chest and/or back. Anticholinergics is the right medication for those who excessively perspire in their hands. The downside of using this product is its side effects including dry mouth, insomnia and blurred vision.
Botox injection is often used as a treatment. How does it work for you? It helps close up sweat pores. Nevertheless, this procedure is not so convenient. It shall take 20 different injections per session or treatment. The treatments must be repeatedly done about every 4 months. These injections are painful and thus pain killers are required. Iontophoresis is another option. This is a device also used for hyperhidrosis treatment. It has been used for over 50 years but its exact functional way is still vague for many people. It is used with tap water to pass directly light electric current into the patient’s skin. It is different from botox injections because it does not cause any pain. However, this treatment does not work long term and may even not work at all. Patients must undergo two to three sessions a week with each session lasting up to 20 minutes. After that, patients must go back for some other sessions depending on how their bodies respond to the treatment.
The last resort or option is the most dangerous among all the treatments. It is called Thoracis sympathectomy, an exensive surgery. It works out sympathetic nerves that possible cause excessive sweating. How is it done? The doctor inserts a small endoscopic instrument into the body below the armpit. It is so risky because it can affect some of your internal organs and the device directly works inside your body. All these treatments mentioned above are artificial and can put your health at risk. Hence, there are also natural means on how to stop sweating like baking soda or corn starch of which the effectiveness is attested to by some people.
