Exercise for Better Sleep
After an intense workout you may feel that your body is exhausted. When you leave the gym I am sure that a nice comfortable bed is in order and would feel amazing. If you keep your body active all day you than you are well on your way to a great nights sleep.
If you are having a hard time finding ways to fall asleep, you need to focus on keeping yourself moving and active all day long. We all know that sleeping is the best form of recovery and relaxation. Your brain and body know this as well. When your body tells your brain that you need to rest, your brain will tell your body that it is time to slow down. You then will feel drowsy and you will feel the need to sleep. When you do finally go to sleep that gives our bodies time to recover from the days activities.
There are indications that being physically fit directly affects how we feel and also our attitude. I personally believe this revolves around the sleep that we get. When you make a decision to be more active you will be burning all the access energy that our bodies have stored up. When you don’t have energy you want to …. That’s right you want to sleep. Your body is exhausted so your sleep will be a relaxing and deep sleep.
When deciding when you should exercise I recommend that you do so in the early evening about 4-5 hours before you go to bed. I understand that this is not possible for everyone due to family, work, and other obligations. Doing this ensures that you will burn of all the stored energy of the day allowing for a more fulfilling and deeper nights rest. So if at all possible work out and you will find easy ways to fall asleep.
