How to Cure Anxiety with Healthy Lifestyle Changes
Ah anxiety! It pulls, it tugs.. Anxiety varies from mild, occasional and all the way to debilitating. Often triggered by a combination of causes such as alcohol or drug withdrawals, heredity, stressful situations and major life changes to name but a few.
Anxiety attacks suddenly and without much of a warning. The symptoms may include vertigo, dizziness, sweating and elevated heart beat. These symptoms are created through a mechanism of fight or flight response. The nervous system tells the body that it may be in danger and therefore the body prepares to defend itself.
For those who have experienced an anxiety attack, it is clear that if not addressed, it can seriously effect their well being. So, what can be done? Many people refer to the medical establishment for treatment of their anxiety attacks. The doctors may prescribe a number of drugs and /or suggest other treatment methods.
More often than not, anxiety attack symptoms can be alleviated in a safe and rational manner. There are a number of holistic approaches that may help. Let’s examine some of the approaches of how to cure anxiety in this post.
One such approach is a use of combination of natural treatments. These are; healthy lifestyle changes like yoga, meditation and exercise. Natural supplements, a proper diet and of course rest. Using such concept addresses the whole body-mind-spirit combination.
Yoga – This ancient practice was originally created to be performed between meditation sessions. Today it has been discovered that yoga enhances virtually all body systems. The asanas (postures), breathing exercises and stretches all contribute to good health. Some of traditional yoga styles are Bikram, Hatha and Raja.
Meditation – A practice such as meditation, creates an over peaceful state of mind. It shifts the brain activity toward calmness and away from anxieties. Meditation practice can also enhance concentration and stimulate better sleep. Popular forms of meditation are Zen, and Vipassana (Mindfulness) meditation.
Exercise – What can be said about exercise that has not been said already. You can not have an overall holistic approach to health without including the benefits of regular exercise routine. Simple walking is among the best forms of exercise that can be done. Incorporate some walking into your daily schedule for better health.
Natural Supplements – Modern natural supplements are on the cutting edge of science. They are manufactured under strict standards in pharmaceutical environments. They are safer and stronger than ever before. The supplements used for anxiety symptoms work by stimulating a healthy chemical balance in the brain, creating peaceful more relaxed state.
Diet – Talk about benefits! Control weight, maintain healthy blood pressure, low cholesterol and get more energy. Dieting does not mean starving yourself or paying someone for their meals. Be conservative of the quality and quantity of your food intake. Learn to establish limits and avoid all you can eat buffets!
Rest – At the end of the day, your body and the nervous system requires rest. That’s all there is to it. Stop yourself from reaching for the caffeine and sugars to artificially stimulate your energy. Get at least eight hours of sleep at night and feel the difference the following day. When you’re tired, allow yourself to rest.
If you implement most or all of the above strategies, you will develop an overall health. This will apply not just to your physical health but also to the mental health. The last point to make is to attempt to avoid those things that make you upset, the ones that could result in the anxiety attacks. Prevention is crucial and will go far toward a healthier, happier life.
