Blood Pressure refers to the pressure created by the blood against the walls of veins, arteries and heart chambers. Blood pressure rises and falls in a systematic pattern through out the day but if it remains high for a fairly long duration then a person is said to be suffering from high blood pressure. This condition is also known as Hypertension in medical terminology. High B.P.(blood pressure) is extremely harmful as the heart has to work harder and causes arteries to harden. The result of this could be a deadly heart attack. A heart attack has some adverse effects which results in other serious ailments like vision loss and kidney failure. The common perception was that only people above the age of 50 are prone to heart attacks. But due to modern erratic lifestyles which can use high stress, even young adults are falling prey to this killer health problem.
There is no complete cure for hypertension. Once you are diagnosed with it you need to keep the B.P. in check by following a strict diet and a healthy lifestyle. You need to be aware of the dangers of hyper tension and measure the blood pressure from time to time in order to check your progress.

Even if you cannot get rid of these habits you can at least indulge in them in moderation. High blood has a long term relationship with blood sugar. If you have a history of diabetes then you must check your blood pressure on a regular basis. High BP should take the prescribed drugs according to the schedule given by the doctor and any change must be done after consulting your physician.
Blood pressure is an important aspect from the health point of view. The importance can be understood from the fact that it is often termed as ‘the silent killer’. This only means that if you don’t take care of your B.P. then you are actually inching closer to your death which is never good news. So a proper diet and a healthy lifestyle can save you from the evil clutches of high blood pressure.
