Talcum powder is also utilized to temporarily prevent excessively perspiring underarms. Talc absorbs the sweat but it doesn’t last long. Plus, it also leaves a messy white coat on the underarms and on the clothes. In addition, wearing loose, comfortable garments with light, absorbent fabric such as cotton is advised. Dark-colored clothes with tight-fitting design merely exacerbate the appearance of sweating and should be avoided. Doctors also advise people suffering from axillary sweating to take a bath daily and to keep the armpits clean by shaving the area completely.
Stress has also been known to aggravate sweating so it is advised that they learn coping mechanisms and relaxation techniques to help them deal with stress. Also, people with sweaty armpits are recommended to drink an average of eight to ten glasses of water daily to prevent excessive water loss.
Many people use a number of home remedies that have proved to be effective for some but not all. These include apple cider and honey, tomato juice, activated charcoal and liquid chlorophyll and sage fruit extract.
