Kidney Infection Symptoms
The kidney is a vital organ that performs numerous functions such as filtering the body’s waste products. Furthermore, it is also responsible for maintaining the normal level of the electrolytes and preventing the blood pressure from increasing. It also assists the production of red blood cells. However, there are instances when a person develops a disease and acquires kidney infection symptoms.
Kidney malfunction is commonly caused by any infection or inflammation that affects the kidney which is known as pyelonephritis. Most conditions of kidney diseases are first observed when a person experiences some problems regarding his or her urination. If left untreated, the problem can even affect other parts of the body. Mentioned below are some kidney infection symptoms that may also help you detect if you are suffering from this condition.
1.) Frequent night time urination or nocturia
2.) Feeling of full bladder even though voiding has just been implemented
3.) Inability to hold the stream during urination; this can sometimes be associated with pain on both sides of the abdomen
4.) Sharp pain that can range from mild to severe during or after urination; some individuals feel a burning sensation accompanied with pain
5.) Regarding infants and children, kidney infection symptoms can make them irritable due to the discomfort they are feeling. Since these individuals are unable to verbalize their discomfort, they show signs of irritability.
6.) Children may also experience bedwetting. Even though they have been toilet trained, they still cannot manage to control their voiding due to the kidney infection symptoms. An example of this condition would be urinary tract infection or UTI.
7.) This condition may also cause lower abdominal pain. When a kidney is infected or inflamed, it begins to swell and there will be accumulation of fluids. This process will intensify the pressure of the structures near the kidney, thus, triggering abdominal pain.
8.) It is possible for a person to experience a severe abdominal pain accompanied with diarrhea and other manifestations. Aside from pain in the abdomen, lower back pain can also be felt.
9.) If the kidney infection has been disregarded for a long time, it can also affect other vital organs such as the ureters and the urinary bladder. This will lead to worse symptoms and pain sensations will be present in the buttocks or groin.
10.) As one of the cardinal signs of inflammation, a person suffering from kidney infection symptoms will experience hyperthermia or the abnormal rise of body temperature.
11.) The urine of a person having this condition may also have a putrid odor and cloudy appearance.
12.) If the condition gets worse, hematuria may develop. When hematuria is present, blood will be noticeable in the urine.
13.) Prolonged kidney infection symptoms can already lead to nausea and vomiting, dizziness and body weakness. Experiencing these symptoms should require immediate medical attention.
Kidney infection symptoms are sometimes asymptomatic during its initial phases and starts with urination problems. That is why if you happen to have continuous problems when voiding, it is imperative to seek medical help right away. Doing this can receive the treatment during the disease’s early stage as well as preventing its spread to other organs in the body.
