How to Use Neti Pot Cleansing for Colds and Allergies
Neti pots are used for Jala Neti, which is an ancient cleansing technique in India. The literal translation of the word means water cleansing. It is a newly formed term that now means nasal irrigation and can be used to reduce the symptoms of colds and allergies . The idea is to fill the pot with warm saline solution, having similar concentration as body fluids. The nasal cavities are rinsed to allow salty water to enter via a single nostril and to exit at the other. It’s important that you understand the features and other necessary elements to use it as safely as possible.
About the Saline Solution
First, find salt without anything added to it. Normal sea salt is good without iodine. You can also find pharmaceutical salt effective. Using neti pots will require you to get warm water as well. The results of neti pots will differ from one person to the next. Tissue of the nose tends to be very sensitive and you should expect everything to go smoothly, with very positive results if you know how to prepare all the elements and use the right approach.
The Basic Approach
The sideways method is the most commonly used. Bend over the sink and naturally breathe through the mouth. Open the mouth and let the nose-to-mouth close. Water should not enter the throat or mouth. The nose cone should then be positioned into the right nostril and sealed to keep water from coming out. Bend your head forward then roll it to the left. Try different things with your head posture.
As soon as water exits the left nostril, only move the pot to prevent water from entering. Roll your head back to the middle to allow water to exit. Blow through both nostrils gently. Do not close the nostrils. Repeat everything with the other nostril. If you observe mucus blockage, you can also move back and forth. Ask for more tips and feedback from some yoga experts if you can’t seem to master the process. Also talk to a doctor if you are experiencing troubles with the approach.
The Backwards Method
Sinus bellowing will cleanse the part where water cannot flow readily. It is an advanced and powerful technique and will treat problems like snoring, sinusitis and throat ailments. It is recommended that you try the backwards method only after you’ve successfully tried the sideways method. Start everything by cleaning your nose using the sideways technique with one or two pots. Start similar to the sideways approach. Sniff water into your mouth then spit it out. Try as much not to swallow the water. It is not required to dry your nose between these two techniques. Pay close attention to nose cleaning, since water can reach deep places just by the sideways technique alone.
More Benefits
Regardless of the method you use, you will notice several benefits by trying neti pots. Some of the known advantages include taking out dirt and other infectious agents that stem from the passageways and nasal cavities. Minimize the duration of colds and allergic problems like hay fever. Boost how your nose breathes and take out common diseases like bronchitis and asthma.
