The number and type of technologies that can be powered by solar energy are growing. Arizona solar companies and green energy authorities believe that the grasp of solar-powered technology will continue to expand as scientist find newer and smarter ways to use the technology in various ways. One of the latest solar-powered devices is a unique blood pressure measuring tool. Phoenix solar experts are excited about the technology because it will not only be greatly beneficial for the health care industry, it will also be an affordable medical testing item.

The device is still be tested but it is already showing high performance levels. Currently, it matches about 94 percent with standard blood pressure measuring equipment used to test for systolic blood pressure. This means that the device is already highly accurately, state Phoenix solar experts. The device is being tested in Zambia and Uganda, Africa, and if approved it will be a vital addition in the market of cost-effective, high quality medical equipment that low income countries can afford.

The price of the device is positively affected by the fact that it does not require the use of high-priced rechargeable batteries. Phoenix solar authorities state that the device will run solely on solar energy and this is important in countries like Uganda where electricity, and even batteries, can be scarce and hard to find.

Heart attacks and strokes are still responsible for the majority of deaths on a global level, and these diseases are caused by the type of hypertension that doctors and scientists say is dramatically increasing in low income countries. The creation of the device was initiated when the World Health Organization went to multiple companies and asked them to develop an easy to use tool that could run on solar power and that could be used to accurately measure blood pressure.

While the device is still in testing, a large “study” was performed in which hundreds of patients’ blood pressures were measured with the standard devices and the solar-powered devices. The test was performed once, then a second time a month later. In both cases the majority of health care professionals and patients preferred the solar-powered device over the standard blood pressure measuring tool. Phoenix solar authorities believe that only more positive inventions like this one will come along as more and more industries begin to implement solar technology in their fields. While the device was developed primarily to be used in low income countries, it may be such a beneficial tool that we could see it used all over the world.
