Pomegranate Tea Health Benefits
I was on an out of town business trip last week and we were housed in a really fancy hotel. Fortunately for me I had the best room among all the guest. The morning after the meeting with the client was truly delightful. The breakfast menu featured nice foods and drinks but the most amazing thing I ordered was the Pomegranate Tea.
My morning could not have gone any better as the tea that I tasted was the best one I ever had. I then started to research about it because I wanted to bring some with me when I get home. I found out that this tea comes from a fruit bearing shrub or a small tree which is common in the middle east and in Asian countries and very rare in Europe and America. Apparently, it is very hard to find this type of tea in local grocery stores. People even have a hard time pronouncing the name let alone know where to find it. Eventually, I bought a box of the tea I had during my wonderful morning at the hotel from the grocery store right next to the where I was staying. I got hooked on this tea that I researched more about what it truly is. This tea has been known to produce a lot of health benefits.
In general, tea has a lot of benefits but this type of tea can give the body more than what it needs. The conventional tea that we have at home (green tea, oolong tea, black tea, white tea, etc) all have antioxidants in them but it has been discovered and known that pomegranate tea has more and better antioxidants than that of red wine and equal or even better to that of green tea. The big deal about all these antioxidants is that they prevent the formation of free radicals in the body through the inhibition of oxidation of molecules. These free radicals are the ones that cause consequent damage to cells thus causing several cells to age and mutate. Not only this but it has also anti-inflammatory abilities that, when coupled with the antioxidants, can be used as a therapy or an adjunct in the prevention and treatment of several types of cancer and many types of cardiovascular diseases.
This tea also has anti-bacterial properties that can aid in preventing infection by dental pathogens and anti-biotic resistant organism such as MRSA. This tea can also be used for those who frequently workout as the antioxidants in this tea speeds up the recovery time of muscles while reducing soreness that usually accompanies intense physical activity. Asides from the already known pomegranate tea benefits, it may also have an effect on the disease process of Alzheimer’s disease, osteoarthritis, neonatal brain injury, male infertility, and obesity which would require more research in order to know their specific effects. These things that I learned about pomegranate tea has made me a big fan of it. I hope our local grocery store could sell this so that other people can share this delightful drink that I am having everyday.
