Preventing a Swollen Eyelid
Diseases that are a result of an infection like a swollen eyelid can usually be prevented. Since infections are commonly caused by irritations and bacteria, you will be able to identify these causes and take preventive measures. Here are some things you can do to avoid getting the condition.
First, don’t sleep with make-up on. This is a habit some women have especially when they are too tired to remove it. The reason that this is very important is because there may be some ingredients in the cosmetics you leave on that result in irritation after a while. If you know your skin to be sensitive, you should also be careful as to the make-up you choose to use.
Second, be careful with the soaps and other facial products you use. Some soap may be too strong for use on your face. If this happens, your eyelids could swell as part of their reaction to the chemicals. It would be a good idea to take note of some ingredients you know your skin to react with and stay away from them.
Third, keep your hands away from your eyes. Resist the urge of rubbing your eyes whenever they get itchy. If you really have to, wash your hands first. Often times, the cause of the swelling may be from bacteria acquired while you were rubbing your eyes. This is the reason why it is always best to have clean hands and carry around with you a bottle of alcohol just in case.
Lastly, protect your eyes. This might mean wearing sunglasses or using an umbrella when out in the heat.
These are simple things that can be done to prevent getting a swollen eyelid. Though there is no guarantee that you won’t get the condition, following these four tips will at least lessen your chances greatly.Preventing a Swollen Eyelid,
