Before everything else on earth, it was believed that life came out of the evolution of a single celled organism called the amoeba. From that single cell, it evolved so much that it has given life to the earth that we live in. The theory of evolution by Charles Darwin has been a focus of intrigue and controversy over the years. Scientists have argued endlessly about the origin of man and where he comes from. Up until now, that debate has never been settled and the questions are still unanswered. There maybe controversies, intrigues, and debates surrounding the origin of us all but I know that one thing is for sure– we all came from our mother’s womb!

Creating a human being is both a tough and enjoyable process. The joy of creating human beings is so overwhelming that people have become experts in their own way. With that so called expertise, it also comes with the price of over population as millions of babies are being born every day and it is not helping the world’s health. Despite the bad image of overpopulation, pregnancy in women can bring about so many changes in life. A lot of experts might argue about this notion but pregnancy is a parasitic relationship. The parasite, in this case the fetus, takes advantage of the host, the mother, at her expense.

Pregnancy starts with two people of different sexes to come together and have sexual intercourse. During intercourse, the male’s penis ejaculates millions of sperm into the vagina of the female. The sperm then travels up the vagina and meet with the egg and unite at the outer third of the fallopian tube in the process called fertilization. This whole process of fertilization occurs within 24 hours after ovulation. Pregnancy has an average length of approximately 267 days or 38 weeks but may vary by about two weeks in either direction. With the length of the pregnancy and the shortness of the fertilization process, it takes two – four weeks to know if a woman is pregnant. There are many signs that a woman is pregnant. If you have watched the movie Juno then you must know a little about it. The presumptive signs of pregnancy that is being felt by the woman would include amenorrhea or the absence of menstruation as one of the first signs. The ever popular morning sickness and all its glory will never be out of the checklist too.

The woman would also notice that her breasts have become bigger and tender at some points. Sometimes some women may experience fatigue or lassitude which means being weary in both mind and body. Urinary frequency is also a common sign and should not be regarded as nothing. If 18-20 weeks has gone since the last sexual intercourse then a woman may feel the first fetal movements. When all these signs and symptoms are experienced by the woman, a positive pregnancy test with a smile on it will put confirm the whole thing. Signs of pregnancy may not be the best experience that a woman may have but the end reward will truly justify all of the pain, discomforts and difficulties the pregnancy has brought.
