Sleep deprivation is the condition of not having enough sleep; it can be either chronic or acute. It is also a form of psychological torture inflicted by depriving the victim of sleep. When you are deprived of sleep at night, it can lead to fatigue, daytime sleepiness, clumsiness and weight loss or weight gain. The brain and cognitive function are adversely affected. High paced lifestyle can contribute much to the problem of lack of time to get sleep. Some forms of sleep disorder can also deprive someone of sleep. Additionally, a person can also be deprived of sleep by another individual.

This article is concerned with the number of symptoms of sleep deprivation. The first sign is irritability. If you lack sleep, you can easily get angry or irritated with someone or something around you. Even the smallest mistake made by someone else can cause you so much hatred against that person. This is not the normal feeling you have. The second sign is tiredness. Lack of sleep deprives you of energy to work. You will find even a very small task difficult and tiresome to perform. The third sign is being socially inept. This sign is associated with ineffective communications with other people. You do not feel rancor against other people around but you just do not feel like talking to them most of the time. Thus, if you are normally a big talker and you experience this sign, you might probably having some sleep deprivation.

The fourth sign in our list is being a stress cracker. This sign is associated with helplessness. You feel like being an extremely weak person who cannot solve a small or a big problem that comes your way. The fifth in the list is loss of memory. It is absolutely an alarming sign, isn’t it? As mentioned above, cognitive function is adversely affected by severe sleep deprivation but it does not necessarily mean that your brain is damaged. Sixthly, bad concentration is another significant sign or warning. Good focus on anything you do or make is lost. This apparently takes place while you are at work or for students, during class hours. Changes in appetite are the seventh sign of sleep deprivation. These changes come in two cases: you may either be extremely hungry at all times or you long to eat anything. This sign can either result in weight gain or weight loss.

Remember that keeping yourself cool when you lack number of sleep hours is so difficult. Sleep is so healthy for you. It is necessary for you to be energetic and fresh all day. You do not find it difficult to handle stress effectively. All these symptoms are dangerous and they must be treated properly to avoid further damages in your health. For everybody, it is of vital importance that we are familiar with all of these symptoms so that as soon as possible, we can identify it and get medical help from experts. If all of these are affecting you, you must do something about it before everything’s too late.
