The Importance of A Good Night Sleep

Humans have the major basic body functions in common. One of the vital necessities for our bodies to function optimally is sleep. Some people may be able to forgo sleep or sleep irregularly, but these are extremely unhealthy practices. Sleep is necessary to keep us alive, though everyone have distinct sleep durations, sleep patterns and qualities of slumber. The importance of sleep is often overlooked, resulting in sleep disorders that cause much agony and troubles.

There are many reasons for our bodies’ natural essentially of sleep. It is the natural way of rejuvenating our systems, in which our energy levels expelled are lowered, soft tissues and muscles are repaired and energized, and our mind to process the things learned and memories gained throughout the day. Even though forgoing sleep for a day will not be fatal, but even risking it for one day will cause alterations to your physical well-being, overall cognitive function and your mood. If you go on without sleep for long periods, these effects may worsen and may cause lack of mental clarity, hallucinations, and sometimes provided diseases, and even death. According to statistics, majority of fatal car accidents are somehow related to sleep deprivation.

Typically, the average sleep length should be approximately 8 hours, though the bodies of some individuals can cope with less sleep (as little as 6 hours), and some require a least 10 hours of complete rest to function. Naps that are not consistent may not contribute to your physical well-being, and may even hinder you from falling asleep and night and affect the quality of your night’s sleep. Unhealthy sleep habits reduce the duration of REM (rapid eye movement) stage in your sleep, and affect your health in a negative way.

All of the five stages the humans undergo in sleep, have their own properties and advantages. Together, they are able to help our bodies in regenerating and rejuvenating.

On the other hand, deprivation of sleep will cause grogginess, failure in decision making, irritability, anxiety problems and so on. It is no wonder, as sleep affects every part of the body, from the brain to organs to hormones. These show how important sleep is.

If you desire a longer and healthier life, stay sharp and focused in the day, and keep your emotions well balanced and positive. You need to acknowledge the importance of sleep and practice healthy sleep routines, obtain a good bed and read mattress reviews to help you decide on one from now onwards.
