Vitamin B6 or pyridoxine is a water-soluble vitamin. There are several benefits of vitamin B6 and they are all important for a person to maintain his or her healthiness. That is why it is very important to include foods rich in pyridoxine in the diet plan.

For adults, the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) of vitamin B6 is about 1.3 mg. However, this amount should be increased among pregnant or lactating mothers. Pregnant mothers should reach to approximately 1.9 mg of pyridoxine daily while lactating women need 2.0 mg. So what are the vitamin B6 benefits?

1.) Breaking down of complex nutrients

Vitamin B6 is highly important because it functions to break down the important complex nutrients into simpler forms. Nutrients such as carbohydrates, fats and proteins should be broken down in order to be properly absorbed by the tissues and cells. That is why a high level of vitamin B6 is important most especially for people having a high-protein diet.
