Infertility counseling is said to be a method wherein a counselor sits together with his patients, listen to their concerns and problems regarding fertility, understands and analyzes the information they are relaying to him. One of the goals of the counselor is to know how the couple feels about their current situation and to determine what the problems are in each of these individuals. Once he has already achieved this, he will now empathize with the couple, give them the support that they need and show them that he accepts the pain that they are feeling in their current condition.

Why is infertility counselling needed and who needs it? This type of counseling is very helpful to couples who are diagnosed with infertility. Since infertility for women and men are seldom cured, these couples need some help to get back on their feet after hearing the sad news. It can really be disappointing once you find out that you cannot give birth to children. For this reason, couples need some counseling in order for them to get the right kind of advice that they need to survive the storm. Other couples who do not get counseling usually end up experiencing sadness, grief, pain and frustration which can cause them to fight, lose interest in each other and even lead to separation.

In order for couples to be able to cope up with their situation and still remain strong after what has happened, they need infertility counseling. This kind of counseling can be done in pairs or individually. It is for the couple to decide whether or not they would go counseling together or not. It really helps if you have someone you can trust to hear you out when you have a big problem and provide you with helpful advice. These sessions in counseling usually don’t take long, they usually last 50 minutes to 1 hour. Counseling is very important because it helps couples accept their situation and move on with their lives.
