Liposuction today has become an ordinary procedure available to everyone and anyone who can afford it. Gone are the days when only celebrities could avail of this aesthetic surgery and people whispered about who’s had it.

This medical procedure that aims to enhance the body’s contour through the removal of excess fat from deposits between the skin and muscle does not come cheap though. A host of factors affect the cost of the surgery, it can vary based on the amount of correction needed and the specific region targeted. Some areas may also require more than one treatment to achieve full aesthetic benefits. Other factors that determine the price include the size of the patient, the larger the amount of fat to be removed, the higher the price; surgeon’s fees, dependent on the experience and the area of practice, a very experienced and in demand surgeon may charge more; cost of anesthesiologist services; pre-op laboratory and O.R. fees; and the cost of recovery garments (elastic compression). In places where the cost of living and labor fees are higher, charges will also tend to increase.

Although liposuction charges vary greatly, there is an average price of liposuction for specific body parts. Tumescent surgery can be more costly due to its new use of technology, it ranges from $3,000 to $7,500. The arms, back, flanks and buttocks cost anywhere form $1,500 to $5,000. The anterior thighs and knees and the inner thighs and knees are priced at $2,000 to $5,000. The hips, waist and outer thighs go from $1,600 to $5,000.

The prices of liposuction is a vital consideration when thinking of undergoing the surgical technique, but the quality of the liposuction is a much more significant factor. Since the ultimate objective of the procedure is to have a happy and satisfied client, the expertise and experience of the surgeon are of utmost importance, even more than the cost.

In the end, beauty still comes at a price.
