Yeast Allergy Symptoms
Microbiology has contributed so many things to human beings. They have taught us the different behaviors of bacteria, they have taught us how to protect ourselves through medicines, and most importantly, they have taught us how to cook our food. Microbiology has helped us a lot and one of the most important discoveries that it has given mankind is the use of yeast.
We all use yeast or at least have taken in yeast at one point in our lives. It is very common in many food products which would include breads, beers, wines, and many more. With such an abundance of yeast in our lives, we could not help but wonder what would happen to people who are allergic to them? If you are allergic to yeast, then you definitely are limited to eating foods because of all the restrictions. Allergic reactions to yeast may cause people a lot of problems.
At first, when you ingest yeast the body would digest it for some time but after awhile that it has stayed inside, your body would recognize that the yeast is actually and intruder and therefore must be assisted violently out of the body. To normal people, this does not happen but to those who are allergic, this would be the scene. The way the yeast will be assisted out of the body will be by execution and death. The body will release its soldiers called the antibodies to kill them and in the process of killing, it sends out a signal for the inflammatory response to occur. Yeast allergy symptoms would include, hives or rash, itching or burning of the skin, headaches, stomach problems, unexplained fatigue, asthma and other breathing difficulties, achy joints and muscles, sleepy or drowsy after meals, sore throat, runny nose, sinusitis, and a whole lot more.
These symptoms are manifested by the body because of the active immune system. The problem with yeast allergy is that sometimes when the body reacts to an allergen and is not well treated with medications, it would cause the body to deteriorate its function. If this recurs, the yeast will not be cleared right away and it will cause the yeast to multiply in thousands which would then cause an infection. Allergies do not usually cause infections but since yeast is a type of fungi, then colonization and multiplication would lead to infection.
If your allergic reactions are recurrent and they get worst every time, then you should visit the doctor for advise on the treatments and managements that are needed. Antihistamines should be taken whenever the reactions occur. If ever you get infected with the recurrence, it is always recommended that you take in the antibiotics to the last day of therapy because if not then the bacteria will get stronger the next time it infects you (this is called bacterial tolerance). These are only few of the symptoms and complications of yeast allergy. People should not be worried about yeast allergies because they are not missing much out of the food that they are restricted from eating. After all, yeasts are fungi anyway.
